Seminar in Alexandria: No equality without equity and justice
At the invitation of the Swedish Foreign Service of the Swedish Institute in Alexandria and the Swedish women's organization „Kvinna till Kvinna", "Dominoes" participated in seminar ”Women in Politics: Are women’s rights possible to debate in the political sphere?” that from 20-22 April gathered in Alexandria feminists, MPs and politicians from national governments and civil society activists from 10 countries of the Middle East, EU and Balkans.
This year's seminar is actually a continuation of work on the guidelines and recommendations of previous seminar in Alexandria, 14-15 December 2008, "Women in Politics: A Space for Social Changes" with an aim of countinuation of making room for further discussion about opportunities and barriers for women in politics through exchange of experience and knowledge on regional and international level, as well as the elaboration of possible strategies for encouraging these debates in public and political space from the perspective of politicians and representatives of civil society, strengthening cooperation between politicians at the local, national and international level in order to create unity in achieving significant change. Also, this seminar should identify practical steps for the successful implementation in further action.
